From multi-million copy seller, K. L. Slater comes another breath-taking thriller, narrated by Claudia Jessie (star of Bridgerton & Line of Duty)

All she has to do is pretend to be his girlfriend…

Alicia has left her young son and sister to chase a better life in London. But she’s not just chasing opportunity, she’s running from the truth.

At the Orbit, an elite enclave towering above the city where the great and the good come to play, Alicia waits tables, watching everything.

When the charismatic owner of The Orbit offers her a deal - pretend to be her girlfriend in return for a salary and an apartment - Alicia accepts. After all, it’s only pretend … until it’s not.

Soon, Alicia is living the life she’s always dreamed of — but behind the flawless façade, something is deeply wrong and some deals cannot be broken. As her past begins to creep towards her, Alicia thought she was the only one playing a game.

It turns out she wasn’t alone…

Solid story in genrecenter

Der Hauptteil der Geschichte ist die Schablone eines 08/15 Liebesromans: clumsy waitress gets fired, rescued by a good looking customer who turns out to be the owner and hires her to play his girlfriend to spy on people. He's filthy rich, flirts with her and showers her with wealth. Then he gets controlling...

Spannung? Wo?

This audiobook delivers a suspenseful ride that keeps you hooked from the first chapter. The narration is great and really builds the tension. However, the story falls short in some key areas. Most notably, the timeline around the birth of her son just doesn’t add up, and that’s hard to overlook. While the plot is gripping, the inconsistencies make it tough to stay fully immersed. Worth it for the thrills—but not if you’re expecting tight storytelling.

The story was pretty far fetched and the main character’s blood turned to ice so often, that she should have been an iceberg by the end of the story!

Repetitive
