Stephen Fry's breathtakingly outrageous debut novel, by turns eccentric, shocking, brilliantly comic and achingly romantic. Adrian Healey is magnificently unprepared for the long littleness of life; unprepared too for the afternoon in Salzburg when he will witness the savage murder of a Hungarian violinist; unprepared to learn about the Mendax device; unprepared for more murders and wholly unprepared for the truth.

greatly written, perfectly executed,
a story with a lot of humor dark and light, many word plays and nuce twist at the end.
i just love Fry's work

marvelous

Würden Sie The Liar noch mal anhören? Warum?

Brilliantly readed book - Brilliant gelesenes Buch

I did not like this book at all and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It seems to me the author just put a bit of sex, a bit of suspense, a bit of intellectualism into a big boiling pot trying to get something interesting to read or hear, but for me this was just a big boiling pot without any sense or interest. It was just boring.
