The dragons are gone, the powerful magics that broke the world diluted to little more than parlour tricks, but the kingdoms of men remain, and the great game of thrones goes on. Lords deploy armies and merchant caravans as their weapons, manoeuvring for wealth and influence. But a darker power is rising - an unlikely leader with an ancient ally threatens to unleash again the madness that destroyed the world once already.

Only one man knows the truth and, from the shadows, must champion humanity. The world's fate stands on the edge of a dagger, its future on the toss of a coin....

Great series that really gets going near the endof book three. For some reason though book 4 „the widow‘s house“ is not available in Germany. All other titles are. Please fix this

Part 4 unavailable

This is not a bad start to a series. The writing and chracters are good the worldbuilding a little confusing with one of the worst maps printed in a fantasy book.
The audiobook narration is well done.
Sadly i cannot recommend anyone starting this series with audible in my country (germany) because it ends on book 3 (of 5).

Interesting but a little slow

The best part is the reader, great job... Then... The story develops slowly and characters' stories fail to trap you... Maybe, it would work better if you came to the audiobook after reading the book, but not my case, and if it's similar to yours, think twice about this book...

After 4h... Not catching...
