Leider sind in diesem Simmons die Charakter sehr idealisiert dargestellt und die Thriller-Story ziemlich absurd. Der Abenteuer-Teil der Geschichte (Besteigung des Mount Everest) ist ganz gut und natürlich ist das Buch gut geschrieben. Aber isngesamt halt eines von Simmons schwächeren Büchern.

This Book is incredible in the research and details related to mountaineering. If thats the kind of story you want to read about, you will love this. IF you hate a poorly executed anti climactic ending, skip this book. I loved the Terror by Simmons, listened to this 3 times already.

I normally would never put a spoiler in a review.... but feel it will save a lot people the mental anguish of visualizing Adolf H. doing abominable things to 8 year old boys with descriptive pedophilia scenes. I had to stop the audio book at 25 hours... It went from one of the most incredible stories of endurance to .... a mental lapse of judgment by the author to make sure the listener or reader can never unhear or read pedophilia pornography
