Only once in a great while does a writer come along who defies comparison - a writer so original he redefines the way we look at the world. Neal Stephenson is such a writer and Snow Crash is such a novel, weaving virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility to bring us the gigathriller of the information age.

In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo's CosaNostra Pizza Inc., but in the Metaverse he's a warrior prince. Plunging headlong into the enigma of a new computer virus that's striking down hackers everywhere, he races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain threatening to bring about Infocalypse. Snow Crash is a mind-altering romp through a future America so bizarre, so outrageous...you'll recognize it immediately.

Beskrivning från Audible

I am not a big Sci-Fi fan, but this book was just great. It was funny, witty, very imaginative, and the story just kept my interest the whole time. I especially love the part where Hiro's characteristics switched when he joined the Metaverse. It reminded me of people I know that are very different online behind their computer screens than in person. Overall, it was an enjoyable listen one of the best I've had here at Audible. Loved this audiobook. A mix of science fiction, religion, love, mafia and magic. Recommend to everyone :)

Just amazing!

Idea is just told as librarian research result. Neither world nor character come to life.

Not the best Stephenson

Listening to this book in 2025 shows how far we have come to Neal's vision. Only a few more years with current governments and Oligarchs and we'll be where this book is at.

The prophetic view of our future dystopia

I liked the the story and the audio performance was awesome. I’m a kid from the 90ies so it clicked for me. It has cool world building and nice action. Characters are good but as is often typical for sci-fi they lack depth and development. Still full recommendation!

Good cyberpunk satire
