Reception is what waits on the far side of arriving. Where Bend My Light was a journey—descent, search, and arrival—this second collection does not move through darkness toward light. It begins already in the light, and asks a quieter, harder question: now that you have arrived, how do you stay? How do you remain awake, present, and whole in a world that keeps pulling you back to sleep? These poems are not a story but a practice.
They open by teaching how to truly perceive—to lay down the restless, judging mind and receive the world as it is—then move by feeling and contrast through courage and stillness, mortality and grace, the brush with annihilation and the slow return to peace.
If Bend My Light showed that there is light on the other side of the dark, Reception shows how to live there—not by searching, but by receiving; not by looking, but by being. From Alexander Gwyn, author of Bend My Light—#1 in Religious Poetry. Read by the author, with original music and ambient sound.
