A riveting story of American fighting men, Outlaw Platoon is Lieutenant Sean Parnell’s stunning personal account of the legendary U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division’s heroic stand in the mountains of Afghanistan.

Acclaimed for its vivid, poignant, and honest recreation of sixteen brutal months of nearly continuous battle in the deadly Hindu Kesh, Outlaw Platoon is a Band of Brothers or We Were Soldiers Once and Young for the early 21st century—an action-packed, highly emotional true story of enormous sacrifice and bravery.

A magnificent account of heroes, renegades, infidels, and brothers, it stands with Sebastian Junger’s War as one of the most important books to yet emerge from the heat, smoke, and fire of America’s War in Afghanistan.

Even having read/listened to quite a lot of books about personal experiences in post 9/11 wars, all very interesting, none has impressed me as much as "Outlaw Platoon". There's more suspense there than in any thriller - moreover, "Outlaw Platoon" grippingly shows the heroism, sacrifice and the human cost of real life in combat as well as the strong bonds among men whose lives depend on one another. Witness a young, inexperienced lieutenant of 24years with his first command maturing into an outstanding leader. Written with rare openness and honesty, gorgeously read by Ray Porter, "Outlaw Platoon" made me hold my breath, laugh, love, live as well as mourn and cry all along with it.
(I just HAD to search online for an interview with the author - and there are some, just look them up to learn how and what he does nowadays!)

P.S.: sorry for my clumsy English, I'm German

Outstanding

Outstanding read! Gives out a glint of the sacrifices that those who defend our nation selflessly make. Now and since the birth of our Country. Makes me proud to have served and taking part in this brotherhood. 🇺🇸
