A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook

With tyranid hive fleets approaching, the Carcharodons make a stand on the world of Piety V. If they can stop the xenos here, they will be able to end the menace before it begins.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

The most inhuman and brutal Chapter of Space Marines get a first hand look at the common people they fight to protect, and the results are surprising.

THE STORY

The Carcharodons’ remit is an unenviable one – this Chapter of Space Marines plies the dark areas of space, endlessly hunting down the enemies of mankind. Living on the edge, with no fixed base of operations, they are creatures shaped by their environment, renowned for their ruthlessness and their brutality. With a fresh wave of tyranid hive fleets approaching the galactic plane, the Carcharodons decide to use the world of Piety V as a bulwark. If they can stop the xenos here, they will be able to end the menace before it begins. But as they mobilise the planet’s defenders, and fight the tyranids, the Carcharodons come to learn what the value of mankind truly is.

It is overall a good story with some interesting themes to it, and certainly worth it for anyone interested in the charcaradons. However none of this is really all that new and the story becomes rather predictable. Especially because there is little to no payoff for the potential mysteries or conflicts that are presented. All conflicts are resolved very quickly and a lot of the time by one side simply dying. Characters are also not really given developement, or at least its not shown, but we are told it happend. That means the books substance is made up of a lot more just Space Marine gore porn, than i would have liked.
The first one, i think, has this beat by quite a bit.

Narrator overall does a very good job. He could sometimes take a second between scenes. Sometimes the switch between characters feels very abrupt, but that is a minor concerns.

good listen, but nothing special

A good sequel to the first book.it gets somewhat meandering in the middle but the Finale pulls it bacl together. a good read.

The charcharadons return

Contrary to the other reviews this book is a far stronger entry into the series than Red Tithe.
From Renegade Space Marines, to Inquisition and Tyranids it has all and more to over.
it's not just bolter slaughter but something more.
I liked the worldbuilding in the first book and this is even better.
If you are looking for a fun novel then you will find it here. But beware it is not Helreach, Betrayer or the Horus Trilogy.

Better than Red Tithe
