Once the golden boy of the English literary scene, now a clinically depressed writer of pulp crime fiction, Ash Winters has given up on hope, happiness, andmost of allhimself. He lives his life between the cycles of his illness, haunted by the ghosts of other peoples expectations. Then a chance encounter throws him into the path of Essex-born Darian Taylor. By his own admission, Darian isnt the crispest lettuce in the fridge, but he makes Ash laugh, reminding him of what its like to step beyond the boundaries of anxiety. But Ash has been living in his own shadow for so long that he cant see past the glitter to the light. Can a man who doesnt trust himself ever trust in happiness? And how can a man who doesnt believe in happiness ever fight for his own? Literatur & Belletristik Romanze Zeitgenössische Liebesromane

As was to be expected, this book is rather dark in places. However, it also has very funny moments, and Darian is a very colourful protagonist. He's kind of the antidote to Ash's gloominess, which makes for a fantastic combination. The conversations between Ash and Darian made me giggle many times during the book.

It's the narrator though who really makes all their colours shine. He does an absolutely outstanding job.

I can only recommend this book. It's a pleasure to listen to.

Absolutely loved it!

This story is so dark, sad, tragic and heartbreaking on the one hand and on the other just like a bright ray of sunshine (and glitter), incredibly funny, sweet and heartwarming. Nicholas Boultons narration is excellent. He captures all the fine nuances so well.
