Sallie, while often out of her element, comes to love the children and works diligently to ensure that they are safe, well-behaved, and offered the best opportunities possible. Despite unavoidable misfortune, she perseveres and even finds love.

However, I'm sorry to have to give the reader such a low score but there are quite a few french phrases in the book and even knowing French quite well, it was incredibly difficult to understand them with the way they were mauled by the reader. The Scotch, too, was not very well done. I do love the intonation and character that the reader conveyed, though, and had the book been solely in American English, I would have given the audiobook five stars all around.

Loved Daddy-Long-Legs and really like Dear Enemy, too

It was read fairly well, the irish and scotch accents were portrait amiably. The reader transfers the humour of the heroine very nicely. And even though the book consists of letters, one can easily follow the storyline. Jean Webster is now one of my favourite authors.

I loved this sequel to Daddy Long Legs perhaps even more than the first book.
