What makes a career in IT satisfying? In this episode of CompTIA's TrendWatch, Seth Robinson explores findings from the IT Career Insights study, which surveyed more than 3,000 people across 12 countries. Among those surveyed, 80% of IT workers said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their jobs, compared with 64% of non-IT workers.
Seth looks at how management support, work-life balance, compensation and the opportunity to solve real-world problems contribute to job satisfaction. He also challenges common assumptions about who belongs in technology and explains why careers in areas such as cybersecurity and data can appeal to people with a wide range of interests.
The episode also examines why IT professionals are more concerned about AI than their non-IT peers, how changing technology creates opportunities to build new skills, and how CompTIA Essentials and Tech+ can help people explore the technology landscape.
