Jax seems like a regular guy, except that he fights creatures from a strange place called the UnderVerse in his sleep, leaving him covered in horrific scars when he wakes up. The mysterious disappearance of his brother five years prior has forced Jax into a holding pattern, with a job he tolerates, a girl he kinda, sorta loves . . . until he's kidnapped and given a stark choice by his asshat of a father: Go to the UnderVerse in reality, travel to the capitol of that ruined realm at the center of reality, and open a portal for the Noble Houses to return home . . .

New companions, new threats, and at last a real home. Jax has a chance to turn his territory into more than a relic, buried deep in the forest. War is on the horizon . . . Things are looking up for Jax, more or less. He's met the girl (Wisp) of his dreams, got some new friends (the kind he'd fought with and alongside in his gaming), and even managed to start a war . . . Okay, that last bit might not have been the wisest thing he's ever done, but the guy was an ass, and he deserved it . . .

Jax survived the Smugglers Path, as did most of his party, but he's suffered losses, found out just how far he's willing to go for Oracle, and seen his own darker side . . . as have his followers. The City of Himnel crawls with depravity, violence, and backstabbing, and if Jax wants to keep his people, supply his growing war-machine, and have any kind of a chance at survival, he needs to not only survive there, he needs to rob it blind!

Once again, Jax has found himself in the thick of it. His party needs to escape, make changes and improve on the incomplete and barely manned ships they stole. With the city, not to mention the Dark Legion, gearing for war, he has only one choice available. Landfall. Jax and his people must take the risk of landing aboard the possessed, infested, and crumbling Sunken City. They need to move people, resources, and more around. While preparing the ships, the new citizens, and hell, Jax needs to meet most of the people who followed him blindly on the promise of a better life.

Nimon, The God of Death, has named Jax and all who follow him "Apostate" decreeing their death and has dispatched his Dark Legion, the Imperial Legion's antithesis, to see the job done once and for all. Hundreds march on the Great Tower, the seat of Jax's power and home to his resurgent Empire. Unbeknownst to Nimon, Jax and the vast majority of his people are far out to sea, aboard ships that are only partially operational, and the enemy's forces are drawing closer to his home by the hour.

The Dark Legion have been beaten back, and for the first time, the brothers are allied against the savagery that the UnderVerse has thrown at them, but the storm clouds of war are gathering, and not everyone will see the sun rise again. Jax has one chance to keep his people safe from the storm and the war that's building on the horizon, but it'll take balls of steel, brains of mince—and he's really going to need to be lucky as hell to pull this one off.

The War of the Gods has stalled while both sides recover, borders have been established, and a form of uneasy peace descends on the Imperial Territory of Dravith . . . It should be a time of consolidation, of rest and giving the survivors the chance to rearm and train. But life rarely goes as Jax expects. New and old enemies are on the horizon, the land itself is disturbed, and worst of all, the Gods are not all he believed they are.

Stranded on a hostile continent with only Oracle and Sehran, Jax is facing a hard truth: all the power of his newfound crown means nothing in a land where no one knows his name—and wouldn't care if they did. Time's running out until the enemy find him, and without his friends and his legions, what chance does he have?

With the winds dispelled and secrets exposed, Jax has to convince those that survive that the best chance at safety is with the Empire. The best way to prove it? Eliminate the deadliest threats hunting them all. Jax, Oracle, and Sehran have survived the scorching desert and conquered the untamed wilds. Now they face their most treacherous challenge yet: unraveling the dark truth behind the succubai within the Tower of Gaij.

Himnel. Narkolt. Gaij. The cities that have stood against him have learned the cost, but now, as Jax is forced to stand alone, to stare into the abyss and see what his own mistakes have brought about, Kronk dares to raise its head and threaten him. They're about to find out why he's called the Godslayer. The gods have a plan—gather ten divine fragments, ascend to godhood, and face an evil that has survived for millennia. But divine fragments don't come gift-wrapped. They're held by demigods, tyrants, and things that make the Dark Legion look like amateurs.

The gods left a secret. Jax needs to find it before Oracle's time runs out. Returning to Dravith should have been a victory. Jax has claimed Ashen Heart, reunited with his forces, and finally understands what he's truly fighting—Xenefier, an enemy older than the gods themselves, holding Oracle...
