When Talia Lyons was just a child, her parents were murdered before her eyes.  After her brush with death at Ian Crane’s compound, Talia Lyons feels like a prisoner, confined in her childhood home. So when Agency Director McDonough asks Talia to go undercover at the School for the Talented, to find the spy who set the trap for her in Nevada, Talia jumps at the opportunity.  

Tasked with administering the annual Talent Aptitude Tests to analyze the children of the nation's capital to identify those with powers, Talia knows that the mandatory testing laws are controversial but is still shocked by the protesters lining the streets of the city and the curfew imposed upon its residents. She soon learns that it isn't the children who are tested she needs to be concerned about; it's the ones who aren't. And when she encounters a face from her past, Talia must confront her toughest decision yet. 

When Talia runs away from the only life she's ever known, she becomes the target of a ruthless manhunt. Those she once considered friends are suddenly bona fide enemies, unwavering in their pursuit. If the Agency can't have her, they want Talia eliminated. As her abilities grow stronger by the day, Talia's grip falters.

As one of the Created, a new subset of Talents whose powers were exponentially increased with a synthetic substance, she is being hunted by the government. Kenly thought she knew what horrors haunt the night, but she soon learns of predators far more terrifying than anything she's ever faced. Suddenly, she is brutally aware of humanity's dark side. It is aware of Kenly, as well. And it's coming for her.
