Best friends Declan and Finley’s normal lives ended the day the Leviathan broke through to Earth. Only the arrival of the Sun Elves–and their powerful King Aquilan–saved humanity and drove the Leviathan back into the Under Dark.

A bartender and a king can’t fall in love. They certainly can’t have a relationship. And they most certainly can’t have a happy ever after. Right? That’s what Declan Wilde keeps telling himself about his growing attraction to Sun King Aquilan Fairlynn. Even as he carries Aquilan’s books, promises to take him to all the sweet shops he adores, and stares deeply into his crystalline blue eyes… Regardless of what Declan tells himself, it appears his heart has other ideas. Can Lord Rhalyf Neres be any more annoying than he already is?

The Sun King Aquilan Fairlynn’s nephew Darcassan has disappeared into the ruins of Chicago in search of a rift to purple-towered Illithor. Darcassan seeks the great weapons and magics that the dread Night King Xelroth Vex left behind in that sleeping, dreaming, dangerous city in the Under Dark. Declan, Finley, Aquilan, Rhalyf, Elasha, Helgrom, Snaglak, and Glom all agree to track Darcassan and stop him from intruding on the Night King’s beloved city. For if an Aravae lord steals even a grain of sand from Xelroth Vex it could spell war between the Night and Sun Elves after millennia apart.

The dread Night King Xelroth Vex has brought all of our heroes to the Under Dark to face their pasts, their fears and maybe even their destinies. But while Vex believes he is the one in control, his son, Declan Wilde, has something to say about that. Follow King Aquilan as he discovers his memories are not complete. See Lord Rhalyf face off against his family and ambition. Witness Finley fight for his life to obtain the magic that he’s wanted all his life. And join Helgrom, Snaglak, Glom and the twins in a desperate heist to obtain magical weapons and armor from the abandoned dwarven city.

While our heroes have returned from the Under Dark and their trials arranged by the Night King, the Under Dark has not left them! King Xelroth Vex is now seemingly vacationing in the Aravae Empire, hiding who he is under the glamour of a human. Haera Vex –Rhalyf’s sister –has tracked her brother down and also is undercover as an Aravae. There are now more Vexes in Tyrael than in Nhamashel. What trouble will they cause?
