Abandon House Publisher's summary

A Top-5 ranked Apple Podcast now available as an audiobook!

It all started with a kitchen window leak. 1,500 days later, they fled their house-on-a-hill like it was haunted.

When a freak Southern California storm sends water pouring through Kenny and Shari Rudolph's kitchen window, they figure they're in for a simple weekend repair by licensed professionals. Instead, they're about to spend the next five years fighting a battle they never signed up for—against modern-day pirates, vanishing contractors, "licensed catastrophists," insurance adjusters acting as masters of sleight of hand, and a home repair industry worth half a trillion dollars that leaves the Rudolphs as castaways in their own home.

Told with the same wit and heart that built a loyal audience across 145 countries, Book 1 of the Abandon House trilogy is a true, page-turning, comically unbelievable account of what happens when a small problem refuses to stay small—and what it takes for two people to hold onto each other while their house, and their sanity, come apart at the seams.

Audiobook Production Notes:

Narrated by Kenny Rudolph, with his wife, Shari Rudolph, contributing all female voices, this audiobook brings the fiasco to life with humor, exasperation, and urgency. The Rudolphs, creators of the hit companion podcast which reached a Top 5 ranking on Apple Podcasts, share their full story in madcap detail.

If you've ever been burned by a contractor, gaslit by an insurance company, or just love a good disaster you can laugh at from a distance, climb aboard. This is a humorous and hopeful journey through the deep despair of home repair gone wrong. It’s also a love story. Happy ending, likely!
