For nurse Sarah Mitchell, it was just the end of another brutal shift. For survivalist Jake Cooper, it was the day he’d been preparing for his entire life. When a high-altitude electromagnetic pulse erases a century of progress, the neighbors are thrown into a world without power, without rules, without hope. While the unprepared descend into chaos, the organized and ruthless rise to build empires from the ashes. A warlord named Marcus begins to consolidate power, hunting for those with the skills to rebuild his new world—or die resisting. At the top of his list: a medic named Sarah.

Sarah Mitchell thought she'd left combat behind in Afghanistan. Now an ER nurse and guardian to her young nephew, she's rebuilt a life far from the disasters and split-second decisions of her military past. But when an EMP pulse fries every electronic device in the city, Sarah's peaceful world crumbles. As civilization breaks down, Sarah must navigate four miles of increasingly dangerous streets to reach her nephew. But she's not the only one moving through the chaos. A gang leader sees opportunity in the darkness and begins to seize control—taking what he wants, crushing anyone who resists.

Sarah Mitchell barely made it home—but home is no longer safe. As New York plunges deeper into chaos, the streets outside are ruled by gangs, desperate survivors, and those willing to kill for power. The ruthless warlord who seized control of the city’s underworld isn’t done yet, and now he has Sarah in his sights. With food running low and the first brutal night behind them, Sarah and her survivalist neighbor, Jake Cooper, must prepare for what’s coming. When a simple rescue mission turns deadly, Sarah faces a horrifying truth: the darkness isn’t just outside—it’s spreading everywhere.

They went in for answers. Now, they might not make it out. In a city teetering on the edge of collapse, Sarah, Jake, and their group have risked everything to infiltrate the hospital—now a fortress controlled by ruthless occupiers. What they find inside is worse than they imagined. A hospital turned prison – and the captives may be the key to something far more sinister.

They escaped the hospital. Now, nowhere is safe. Sarah, Jake, and their small group are holed up in the old medical school, but the city is still a warzone. With every street patrolled and every exit locked down, the only way out is through sheer determination—and a lot of luck.

Sarah, Jake, and their group have been hunted across the city, pushed into a desperate escape through the ravine. But Marcus isn’t about to let them go without a final battle. With his men closing in from behind and unknown challenges ahead, survival is no longer enough—they have to fight back. Nowhere left to run – the ravine was supposed to be their way out, but Marcus has turned it into a death trap. A new player enters the game – heavily armed and highly organized, they have their own agenda—and no one is safe.

The grid is down. It's never coming back. Jake is missing. Pete is bleeding. And the group is running on fumes. When a lone farmhouse emerges from the darkness, it feels like salvation—but in a world where trust gets you killed, nothing is ever what it seems. Friend or foe? Refuge or trap? The wrong answer could cost them everything.
