They injected me with a VR chip, a GPS tracker, and my first Seed. They gave me unbelievable powers. Then, they sent me to fight. The monsters here are alien and vicious. There is a second moon in the sky. I watched a tree start moving and kill someone. And the other players...? They're even worse. I’m alone. I’m weak. And I’m scared. But I will cling to life by the tips of my bloody fingernails. Who is behind this twisted game? Where are they sending us? Is there anyone I can trust? If I want to survive, I have to get stronger. But can I do it before the game kills me?
The alien queen holds a grudge against Eve and her teammates. To avoid having their throats slit while they sleep, they escape the palace and set out to stop the real cause of the war, which is also slowly killing half her teammates - the incurable alien plague that NIX unknowingly weaponized. To save the people she cares about (and everyone else who happens to live on either world), Eve will have to fulfill an ancient prophecy.
I thought at least my mind was safe from NIX, that my choices were my own. I was wrong. Now we all have to pay the price. A new, seemingly impossible quest from the Oracle has seared itself into my brain. Enemies are watching our every move. NIX is experimenting on my brother. And my new power is eating me alive. Literally. What is NIX planning? Can I keep my condition a secret long enough to get us out of here? Is the genocidal, half-crazed alien imprisoned below our only hope of salvation? And if so, can we manage to free him...without getting ourselves killed?
Leveling up would be amazing...if it weren't so deadly. They injected me with a VR chip, a GPS tracker, and my first Seed. They gave me unbelievable powers. Then they sent me to fight. The monsters here are alien and vicious. There is a second moon in the sky. I watched a tree start moving and kill someone. And the other Players? They're even worse. I’m alone. I’m weak. And I’m scared. But I will cling to life by the tips of my bloody fingernails. Who is behind this twisted game? If I want to survive, I have to get stronger. But can I do it before the Game kills me?
Nina Rodriguez has become the most lethal weapon in the world. A blood mage trained by werewolves to hunt and kill with no remorse, no morality, and no hesitation. All that matters is the thrill of the kill, and the danger that comes with it. When she's given orders to infiltrate and observe the vampire court, she couldn't turn it down anymore than she could cease to breathe. The sweet taste of danger was enough to tempt her, and that only doubles when the vampire king chooses her as his own personal thrall.
When people started getting sick, they thought it was just the flu. My roommate, my boyfriend, my family ...they're all gone now. I got sick too. I should have died with them-with the rest of the world-but I didn't. I thought witnessing the human population almost disappear off the face of the earth was the craziest thing I'd ever experience. I was so wrong. My name is Dani O'Connor, I'm twenty-six-years-old, and I survived the ending.
A year ago, Dani and Zoe were lost. They traversed the country to find one another, losing some of the people dearest to them along the way. They fought for their right to simply live, uncovered long-buried secrets, and discovered irreversible truths. And after everything Dani and Zoe have been through - even with the battle wounds that they bear - they're still not safe. It's time for the struggle to end, for survivors to take back their lives, their families, their safety. It's time to really begin to live, and to do that, they must wait for the first rays of dawn.
As Dani and Zoe make the perilous trek home to Bodega Bay, they learn that danger can take many forms--other survivors, their friends, even themselves--and that things are rarely what they seem. Zoe is desperate to become the woman she sees in others' memories, while Dani struggles to conceal damaging secrets, risking losing herself--her humanity--completely. Together, they must rediscover the true meaning of friendship, love, and trust, and learn just how hard they're willing to fight.
In the wake of destruction left behind by the Virus, it took Dani and Zoe months to find each other. But their reunion was short-lived. Dani has been taken, and though little distance separates them, they might as well be worlds apart. From the moment she hears Dani's scream, Zoe's only goal is to save her best friend.
I thought I was a goner after my old frenemy Odin dropped a Ragnarok-sized truth bomb on me at an Asgard Awakening (terrible show - don't watch it) fan convention, but the situation is contained for now, and I'm heading west to search for the runes that make me immortal. Dying is counterproductive, and I, the great god Loki, enjoy living in the twenty-first century, even if I have to do it in a body that prefers men over women. What can I say? Gunnar Magnusson is, as the cool Midgardian kids say, hot AF. We all make sacrifices.
All’s fair in reincarnation and war. You’ve heard the stories of Norse gods: Thor, Odin, Ragnarok...I’m here to tell you they’re all true. I know because I was there...I may have accidentally on purpose triggered a bit of unpleasantness that led to the end of the world, but apparently, it wasn’t the end of me...With a fresh lease on life and a rocking-hot body, I just need one thing: the rune that grants me immortality.
On a remote planet, an autonomous scout makes first contact with extraterrestrial life. Without warning, the alien attacks, ripping the drone to shreds. Humanity is at war. Back on Earth, Sam is just another jobless graduate, drifting aimlessly while she lives off of the government's monthly stipend. When war breaks out, she sees a way out of her life of boredom: she signs up to be a "deathstreamer", a new breed of mercenary chasing fame and fortune by streaming combat footage from the front lines. If she can go viral, wealth and celebrity are within Sam's grasp. But she'll need to survive long enough to enjoy it.
Five years after an alien invasion, the Earth is unrecognizable. The human race has been decimated and the sun completely blotted out by dark clouds that bring constant rain. All indigenous plant life has been killed off and replaced by vegetation that has proven to be as deadly as it is invasive, and the aliens that have taken over the planet are seemingly invincible. Living in a crowded building with other survivors, Diana Foster wants nothing more than to forget what she lost the day the aliens arrived. But an incoming platoon brings a familiar face.
Nina Rodriguez would rather die than submit, but that choice isn't hers. Because whoever kills her will take her death curse, a fate worse than death, and no one is willing to risk that. When she saved the lives of the vampire king and his mother, she didn’t do it for glory, but she’d be a liar if she didn’t think it would mean freedom. Instead, all it did was reveal her for who she is - a blood mage, the most feared creature in the world. Now, the vampires who rule the world have taken her as a slave to use her as a weapon. With her under their thumb, there’s nothing they can’t do.
Every ending has a beginning. In a world changed by mutation and madness, the past reminds us of who we are, and our memories ground us to who we'll become. My name is Zoe Cartwright, and I see people's memories. I know things I shouldn't about my friends and family - their experiences with love and loss, hope and fear - things that must never be forgotten. Stories that must be written down. These are our stories from the world before The Ending.
Xavier, a thousand-year-old vampire, was missing. It shouldn't have been possible for someone to hold him, but he was gone. His brother, Koen, has come to New York City, where one of the vampire's enemies has been found, to search for Xavier. They need to stop Claude, who remains a threat, but first, where is Xavier?
This novella is a prequel to the Vampire Series "The Firsts" and tells the story of the troubled childhood of that book's heroine. It is a dark tale that details some of what she went through with her mother, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and made a living providing sex for men. It is harsh at times, but true to her journey that begins, as a successful woman, in the first book of the series, Forbidden Days.
Falling in love, baking a magical cake, fighting an evil necromancer: It's all in a day's work for Audrey Oliver, 17-year-old witch in training. When her mother goes missing, and her mysterious "cousin" shows up out of the blue, Audrey knows something's gone horribly, dangerously wrong. Now it's up to her to get her own magical powers up to speed before everyone she loves is destroyed by the sorcerer intricately connected to her mother's secret past.
Daniel had been a mercenary longer than his soul could take. On that final job, looking down at the face of an angel whose death he'd been responsible for, he knew he was done. And although he hadn't pulled the trigger on the bullets that took her life, he felt like he had. He'd buried her in a hidden grave in the Canadian woods so no one would desecrate her lovely body.
