Forty years in the feline-filled wilderness. One persistent squatter. And a total tactical collapse. Growing up in a chaotic household with over forty canines, the author was entirely "dogged out" before he even finished high school. He entered adulthood with a clear, unyielding plan: no pets, no clutter, and no complications. He certainly was not a dog person. And he was even less of a cat person. But life—and a soft-hearted wife—had other plans.

Off the Leash: Tales From a Lifetime of Healing Pets & Wonder is a heart-warming memoir from Dr. Kevin Lynch, a veterinarian whose calling began with a fallen sparrow in his Brooklyn childhood. What follows is a lifetime of stories —poignant, humorous, and deeply human —told through the animals who shaped his journey. From a cramped apartment where he first learned compassion, to the hay fields of rural New York where he witnessed a calf's first breath and the miracle of birth changed him forever, Dr. Lynch shares the moments that revealed his purpose.
