When high school valedictorian Ian Murphy was writing his graduation address, a teacher told him that he could not mention Jesus in his speech. She even threatened to pull the plug on the microphone if he tried to do so. Murphy’s defiance, in the name of his constitutional rights, made national news, and his zeal to spread the Gospel, no matter the cost, became the defining passion of his life. Murphy's public battle for his freedom of speech is where this conversion story begins, but then it retraces the other important experiences of his youth.

For 20 years, Lisa Murphy, Jeff Murphy, and a group of volunteers traveled the world with the Mobility Project, delivering mobility to the poorest people on the planet. They helped tens of thousands of disabled poor to gain mobility and hope. The disabled received wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches from the United States, items they never would have been able to afford. Like Simon of Cyrene, we helped people carry their cross of disability. From the hot tropical jungles of Costa Rica, Thailand, and São Tomé to the deserts of Afghanistan, the disabled poor got a new chance at life.

After a century of scholarship discounting even the possibility of knowing the Jesus of history, more and more contemporary scholarship is accepting the historicity of the Gospels and defending their reliability. LaGrange writing in the 1920s was the first to expose the prejudices and misconceptions of the German scholarship that rejected the miracles of Jesus and credibility of the believers' testimonies captured in the New Testament. Rev. Murphy-O'Connor does this in this riveting series of talks.

The story of Malcolm X's journey to Islam is world-known. But how many stories do we have of the brave women who joined on to the Nation of Islam? Very few. To add to the dilemma, Black women face unfair stereotypes when it comes to their acceptance of Islam. Many people unfairly accuse them of joining for vain reasons such as marriage and the desire to imitate Arab culture. This book will change the narrative about Black Muslim women. A Final Call to Self is a story of courage, audacity, failure, and triumph.
