The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite—a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Under Gabriel's leadership and with the help of his unique powers of magical manipulation, the Shadow Foxes were growing to be a powerful and well-regarded guild. So much so that the great mages' school that runs every aspect of life in his new home calls upon them with a new contract, the most dangerous kind. An escort quest.

Kincaid, a journeyman carpenter with artistic skills not seen in generations, discovers his shop is on the wrong side of underworld loans. In a blast of unknown and untamed power to protect those he loves, Kincaid changed his bright future in the Carpentry Guild to a dank prison beyond the laws of the city. Thrust into city politics, Kincaid faces impossible choices to escape to save his loved ones or embrace being a pawn in the games of political power. All the while a whispering voice invades his thoughts, pushing him to become the Chronomancer.

Armed with a spellbook straight out of an RPG, a sarcastic feline familiar, and the adoration of two beautiful Aspects—who are still learning how to be human—I feel unstoppable. But the Halls aren’t as empty as we had thought.
