Christianity is Jesus Christ. It is not the teaching, doctrine, system, or organization of Christ. Rather, it is Jesus Christ himself. We need to see him as God sees him. Yet this can only come about by revelation from above. The Holy Spirit will reveal Jesus to us. And when we do see him as God sees him, we will fall down and worship. Such, then, is the intent of this series of messages, whose overarching theme is best summed up in the author's choice of title to the entire series: "But We See Jesus" (Hebrews 2:9a).

When the jolly Italian peasant-turned-cardinal Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli of Venice was elected Pope John XXIII in 1958, change was in the air. The Church, many said, had refused to enter the twentieth century. In response, Pope John launched Vatican II, an “ecumenical council” that summoned hundreds of church leaders to Rome. The result is a strikingly new and different portrait of Jesus of Nazareth, a Jesus for the non-religious.

This book is based on real events. Christ lives! This is the great truth that these lovingly written lines seek to convey, for nothing is as true as what is written in the most widely read book in the world, the Bible. In this superficial world, far too little is said about people who have experienced real miracles through their spiritual conversion to Jesus Christ, although it is now known that many of the world's celebrities also acknowledge their success in faith.

In His Steps: What Would Jesus Do? has sold more than 30 million copies, and ranks as the 39th best-selling book of all time. The main character is the Rev. Henry Maxwell, pastor of the First Church of Raymond, who challenges his congregation to not do anything for a whole year without first asking: “What would Jesus do?”

Technical artists serving in the local church understand what it means to love Jesus but, somehow, hate Christmas. By the time Christmas (or any church event) is over, technical artists have poured hundreds of hours of their lives into thankless jobs - rolling cable, taping the stage, checking mics, and other invisible jobs. They’re the first to arrive and the last to leave. They work behind the scenes and dress in black.

What would it be like if someone were completely, 100 percent for you? The loser. The rising star. The drug addict. The good Christian kid gone bad. The undeserving overwhelmed with gratitude. Whoever you are and wherever you've been - Jesus is for you. Not when you clean up your act or when you do the right thing or when put your life back together. Jesus is for you - in the midst of now. Whether you woke up amazed by your blessings or shamed by the worst mistake of your life.
