  • Why Policy Is the Missing Link in Canada's Food Security Crisis
    Dec 23 2025

A better food system is possible and it starts with people choosing to lead together.

In this episode of the Zero Hunger Project, Ryan Turnbull, Founder of the Sustainable Finance Forum, challenges you to see hunger not as a single failure, but as a system that can be redesigned with intention and care. Ryan breaks down how food insecurity connects farming, affordability, education, and policy and why lasting solutions require collaboration across sectors.

From Canada's National School Food Program to strengthening local food infrastructure, Ryan shows how aligned policy and community voices can turn ideas into impact. Food is about justice, stability, and the future we're building for the next generation. It asks you to think beyond short-term fixes and toward systems that hold up under pressure.

Reflect on how everyday choices can help shape a food system that truly works for everyone. Tune in the full episode of Why Policy Is the Missing Link in Canada's Food Security Crisis.

Ryan Turnbull is the Member of Parliament for Whitby and the founder of the Sustainable Finance Forum, where he champions policy solutions that align capital with social and environmental outcomes. With a background in social innovation and entrepreneurship, he brings a practical, purpose-driven lens to Canada's approach to sustainable economic growth.
