Trust account expert Lazaro Cardenas explained something to jurors this week that changes everything about the Colts Neck murders: Keith Caneiro's $3 million life insurance policy was structured so that Paul would only benefit if Keith, Jennifer, AND both children were all dead. Not just Keith. All four of them. According to prosecutors, this is why 11-year-old Jesse and 8-year-old Sophia weren't spared. They weren't collateral damage. They were allegedly necessary casualties. A detective testified that Sophia had a stab wound to her left eye. The final recorded phone call between Keith and his brother Paul captures a man demanding answers hours before his murder.

"Give me the f***ing login, Paul!" Keith is heard saying, giving his brother a deadline to provide access to a trust account. Prosecutors say Keith had discovered Paul was stealing from their shared businesses and was cutting him off from a $225,000 salary. A neighbor put a timestamp on the killing. Dennis Corpora testified he woke up around 3:20 AM on November 20th, 2018. "I heard the shots, and I said, 'Someone just got whacked.'" Hours later, four people were dead and the mansion was burning. Prosecutors say Paul shot Keith outside the home, then went inside and stabbed Jennifer and the children before setting the house on fire. Hours earlier, he allegedly set fire to his own Ocean Township home while his wife and daughters slept inside. The defense wants jurors to look at a third brother, Corey, claiming police never investigated him. But the murder weapon, silencer, night-vision scope, bloody jeans with the children's DNA, and a go-bag with a passport were all found at Paul's house. For the defense theory to work, Corey would have had to commit quadruple murder and plant all the evidence. That's not reasonable doubt. That's fiction.

Monique Tepe left the Big Ten Championship game at halftime, upset about "something involving her ex-husband." She was 200 miles away in Indianapolis when surveillance allegedly captured Michael McKee at her Columbus home on December 6th, 2025. According to the Columbus Dispatch, video showed him going into the home and leaving "a few hours later." Twenty-four days later, Monique and her husband Dr. Spencer Tepe were found shot to death in their second-floor bedroom. Their two young children—ages 1 and 4—were asleep in the house, unharmed. A newly unsealed affidavit details eight years of alleged threats. Witnesses told investigators McKee said he could "kill her at any time," that he would "find her and buy the house right next to her," that "she will always be his wife." These aren't the words of heartbreak. They're the words of ownership. Witnesses also told investigators that during the marriage, McKee allegedly strangled Monique and forced unwanted sex on her. Strangulation is the single greatest predictor of future lethality in domestic violence cases. Yet Columbus police confirmed there were no prior reports filed. No restraining orders. Nothing on paper.

McKee, a vascular surgeon, was arrested at a Rockford Chick-fil-A eleven days after the murders. He's pleaded not guilty to four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated burglary. If convicted, he faces life in prison. This episode examines the psychology of someone who refuses to accept that a relationship has ended, and the brutal reality that doing everything right—leaving, divorcing, rebuilding—doesn't always protect you from someone who never recognized your right to leave. December 6th wasn't the start. It was the final confirmation that he could reach her whenever he wanted.

The Arkansas Supreme Court removed Judge Barbara Elmore from Aaron Spencer's murder case 48 hours before trial was set to begin. This is the same judge who released Michael Fosler on bond after he was charged with 43 felonies including alleged rape of a minor. The same judge whose gag order the Supreme Court already struck down as a "plain, manifest, clear, and gross abuse of discretion." The same judge who ignored their warning and restricted public access again. Now 14 state legislators have filed a formal complaint with the Judicial Discipline Commission. The Supreme Court granted a Writ of Certiorari to review every ruling Elmore made. And retired Judge Ralph Wilson—31 years on the bench, known as an advocate for children—is taking over one of the most watched trials in Arkansas.

Aaron Spencer is the Lonoke County father charged with second-degree murder after killing Fosler. According to the defense, Fosler showed up with Spencer's 14-year-old daughter in his vehicle at 1 a.m. after she went missing from her bedroom—despite being charged with sexually assaulting her and ordered to stay away from minors. Spencer told authorities he rammed Fosler's truck off the road and shot him after Fosler allegedly lunged at him. The dashcam footage that could have supported the defense's version of events reportedly vanished—the SD card gone weeks before trial. But the bodycam from three months before the shooting, showing Spencer's grief when he learned about his daughter? Prosecutors kept that. They want it in front of the jury. Defense attorney Bob Motta breaks down what the judicial removal means, what prior rulings could be reconsidered, and whether this case should have ever been charged. Spencer is still running for Lonoke County Sheriff while awaiting trial.
