  • Aloneness to Acceptance
    Oct 16 2025

Dave talked with Andrew Yee about his life-threatening fight with anger and isolation. He opened up about his coping mechanisms of drugs, alcohol, and reckless behavior to dull the pain. He also discussed his time in the army, his PTSD diagnosis, and the insanity cycle he found himself on, culminating in his attempted suicide.

Through it all, Andrew saw how God had been protecting and guiding him to His Son, Jesus Christ. God broke Andrew's isolation through a miraculous event that brought him to connect with God's people in church, Celebrate Recovery, and a Christian three-day retreat called Tres Dias.

We hope you are encouraged by Andrew's story of recovery and victory.

  • How to Better Understand Believer's Perspectives
    Oct 9 2025

Dave talks with Rashad Paulding about the perspectives between believers in Jesus Christ. Both men would consider themselves politically and spiritually conservative. They are both married to strong women and love their kids, and in Dave's case, he also love his grandsons. Both men came to Christ later in life, have experienced hurt from the church, but also serve in the church; one as a lay leader and the other as a pastor.

There are also differences twen the two men. Rashad is a 50-something black man, and Dave is a 60-something white man. Dave was raised ina lower-middle-class suburb in San Jose, while Rashad was raised in a middle-class suburb of Baltimore. Rashad came from a divorced family, while Dave's parents were married form 56 years. Rashad has experienced prejudice because of his skin color, but Dave has not.

This conversation was stirred after Dave spoke from the pulpit about Charlie Kirk's death and the reaction from those who knew him compared to the response to the death of George Floyd. Dave's words triggered the prejudism Rashad experienced in his past. Instead of staying quiet, which was Rashad's typical response, he bravely came to talk with his pastor in his office. After the conversation, the two men agreed that their discussion would make a good podcast. The original conversation began the process of understanding.

This is the first of many more conversations that all of us, as believers in Jesus, shoulc and need to have. We hope you enjoy it. And we apologize in advance for our lengthy convesation. We are both talkers.
