Tonight, we step onto the dunes of the Rig-e Jenn.

Join Winky, the Archivist and the restless Stitchians as they uncover the history and etymology of the jinn. Long before the West transformed them into genies trapped in bottles, these beings of smokeless fire were associated with shifting shapes, hidden places and mysterious lights in the desert.

In this episode:

• How Antoine Galland’s 1704 French translation helped transform the jinn into the Western “genie”
• The strange lights associated with the Rig-e Jenn
• Similar stories of shape-shifting beings found across different cultures

“Not everything that glows is asking to be followed.”
