Most people are taught to overcome their past. We’re here to prove it was never your weakness to begin with. The Unbreakable Advantage is a self-improvement podcast for people who have walked through adversity and refuse to let it determine what comes next.Hosted by Misty Carson, this show explores how lived experience becomes strength, resilience becomes confidence, and the parts of your story you were told to hide can become the very things that set you apart.Through honest solo episodes and powerful conversations, we uncover the patterns most people miss, the beliefs that quietly sabotage growth, and the capabilities adversity can develop within us.This is not about motivation. It’s about recognition.Recognizing the strength you already carry. Understanding how your past shaped the way you think, respond, lead, and make decisions. Learning to use that evidence to create what comes next. What you’ve been through didn’t set you back. It set you apart.Your past may have shaped you, but it doesn’t get to define you.Your strength is yours to claim. What you do with it is yours to decide.© 2026 The Unbreakable Advantage Economie Onderwijs Sociale wetenschappen

  • You Built a Successful Life. Do You Actually Like It? | Jessica Lynn Silva
    Oct 20 2026

What happens when you work your ass off to build a successful life, then find yourself asking: “Do I actually like the life I’ve built?”

Jessica Lynn Silva became a mother at 18, earned four degrees, raised three children through military-family life, and built her own law firm. An attorney, entrepreneur, and Mrs. Hawaii, she knows what it takes to keep going.

But after a serious car accident, her definition of success changed. It wasn’t just about what she could achieve anymore. It was about what she wanted to protect, enjoy, and pass on.

Jessica joins Misty Carson on The Unbreakable Advantage Podcast for a conversation about self-trust, redefining success, and building a life that has room for the person living it.

If you’ve spent years doing what it takes to get ahead, this episode asks a different question: Does the life you’re building actually fit you?

Tell us in the comments: What does success mean to you now that it didn’t five years ago?

Subscribe to The Unbreakable Advantage for more conversations about what adversity builds in us and how we put it to work.

  • From Iraq & PTSD to 16M+ Followers | Ryan Hamilton of HammyTV
    Oct 13 2026

Before Ryan Hamilton built HammyTV and reached more than 16 million followers on YouTube, he was a 19-year-old military police officer and gunner serving in Iraq.

The men beside him recognized his ability to make people laugh when laughter felt impossible. They made him promise that when he returned home, he would become an entertainer.

But coming home brought a different battle.

Ryan experienced a panic attack that changed his ability to function, struggled with PTSD and anxiety, and was told he was 100 percent disabled. Then he began creating. In those moments, the anxiety quieted, and the first videos eventually became @HammyTV.

In this deeply human conversation, Ryan and Misty discuss:

    • Why he entered the military at 19
    • The role humor played during his 16 months in Iraq
    • What people misunderstand about returning home
    • How creating became a lifeline before it became a business
    • Building @HammyTV alongside Jen
    • The discipline, hope, and empathy behind his success
    • What millions of followers cannot reveal about the person behind the platform
    • The loss of his mentor and the message he has for anyone struggling today

Stay until the end to hear what Ryan would tell his 19-year-old self just before leaving for Iraq.

This is not simply a story about becoming successful online. It is a story about what can happen when the thing that helps you survive becomes the thing that allows you to reach millions.

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988 in the United States to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Subscribe to The Unbreakable Advantage Podcast for honest conversations about adversity, human potential, and the evidence of what we are capable of becoming.

  • Can You Outgrow the Life You Prayed For?
    Oct 6 2026

Can You Outgrow the Life You’ve Prayed For?

You worked hard for the life you have. You’re grateful for it. So why do you feel guilty admitting you want something more?

In this episode of The Unbreakable Advantage Podcast, Misty Carson explores the guilt that can come with outgrowing a career, a role, or a version of yourself you once worked so hard to become.

Drawing on her decision to leave her corporate career and build The Unbreakable Advantage Institute, Misty shares how appreciation for your past can coexist with ambition for your future. She also gets honest about the challenge of building something meaningful without filling every inch of life with work.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Why wanting more can feel like being ungrateful
    • Choosing a path your family or community may not understand
    • The tension between meaningful ambition and constant work
    • Examining what is underneath your desire for something different

    Three questions to reflect on:

    1. Would I still want it without the applause?
    2. Am I willing to give what it requires?
    3. Is it moving me toward who I want to become, or helping me avoid something I don’t want to feel?

You can be grateful for this chapter and still turn the damn page.

Have you ever felt guilty for outgrowing something you once wanted?
