Some things are easier to carry than to talk about. The worries. The grief. The questions. The expectations. The experiences that shape us. The parts we hide. The Parts We Hide is a podcast where evidence meets lived experience - honest conversations about the things we often carry quietly. Hosted by Victoria Braithwaite and Dr Pennie Taylor APD, we explore health, wellbeing, relationships, resilience, identity and the realities of being human. Pennie brings decades of experience across dietetics, nutrition, health and research science. Victoria brings lived experience, community connection, food education and nearly a decade of working closely with individuals and families through The Family Cook. We come to the conversation from different places, and that’s the point. One of us might bring the evidence, the other the question people are thinking but haven’t said out loud. Sometimes we’re the experts. Sometimes we’re the ones learning. And sometimes our own experiences become part of the conversation too. Together with our guests, we create space for conversations that are informed, curious, candid and human, without pretending there is always a neat answer. Because the parts we hide are often the parts that connect us.© 2026 The Parts We Hide Hygiene & gesundes Leben Seelische & Geistige Gesundheit Sozialwissenschaften

  • Episode 8: The Brave Face Comes Off | Rose Cocchiaro
    21 Oct 2026

Divorce is rarely just about signing papers. Behind the legal battles, financial uncertainty and emotional exhaustion are real people navigating one of life's most challenging transitions.

But what if separation didn't have to become a battle?

In Episode 8 of The Parts We Hide, Victoria Braithwaite and Dr Pennie Taylor APD are joined by Rose Cocchiaro, founder of Resolve Divorce and co-founder of RISE Woman, to explore what really happens when relationships break down, and why the way we navigate separation matters.

Together, they unpack the emotional and financial complexities of divorce, the often-hidden realities of financial abuse and coercive control, and the importance of self-awareness, emotional regulation and managing conflict.

They also challenge the stigma surrounding divorce and explore how a more compassionate, informed approach can help people protect their wellbeing, maintain their dignity and move forward.

Whether you've experienced separation yourself, supported someone through it, or simply want to better understand the challenges people face behind closed doors, this conversation offers a different perspective on navigating life's difficult transitions.

Because the parts we hide are often the parts that connect us.

Content note: This episode discusses domestic and family violence, financial abuse, coercive control and emotional distress. Please take care while listening.

  • Episode 7: Say Their Name, Stillbirth, Baby Loss & Grief with Annabel Bower
    14 Oct 2026

When Annabel Bower's son Miles was stillborn, she entered a world of grief that so many families experience, yet so few of us know how to talk about.

In this deeply personal episode of The Parts We Hide, Annabel joins Victoria Braithwaite and Dr Pennie Taylor APD to share Miles' story and explore the silence that so often surrounds miscarriage, stillbirth and baby loss.

Why are we sometimes afraid to say a baby's name? What do you say when there really are no words? How can we better support someone navigating a loss that changes their world forever?

Annabel is the author of Miles Apart: A Heartfelt Guide to Surviving Miscarriage, Stillbirth and Baby Loss, a book inspired by her own experience and the practical, compassionate support she wished she'd had.

Together, they explore the isolation of baby loss, the reality of grief that doesn't follow a timeline, the things people say with good intentions that can unintentionally cause hurt, and the importance of remembering and honouring babies who have died.

Because saying their name doesn't remind a parent of their loss. They haven't forgotten. Sometimes it simply lets them know that you haven't forgotten either.

This is a conversation about love, loss, remembrance and the power of acknowledging the parts of grief we so often hide.

  • Episode 6: The Sh*t Sandwich
    7 Oct 2026

When you’re caring for everyone, who’s looking after you?

You’re raising kids. Your parents are getting older. Work hasn’t slowed down. The washing still needs doing, dinner still needs making, appointments need organising, someone needs a lift somewhere and somehow you’re meant to look after yourself too.

    Welcome to the sandwich generation.

In this episode of The Parts We Hide, Victoria Braithwaite and Dr Pennie Taylor APD talk about what it really feels like to be squeezed between competing responsibilities and why so many people, particularly women, quietly carry an enormous physical and emotional load.

As mothers, business owners and women navigating the competing demands of children, careers and ageing parents, Victoria and Pennie know what it feels like to be caught in the middle. Drawing on their own experience; Victoria supporting families through The Family Cook, and Pennie’s extensive work across health and wellbeing, they unpack the guilt, exhaustion, caring responsibilities and invisible logistics that keep families functioning.

Because sometimes life really is a sh*t sandwich and pretending we’re coping perfectly doesn’t make it any easier.

This is the part we don’t always talk about: what happens when everybody needs something from you at once.
