Our children recently asked us if they could get "dumb phones!" When we asked why, they blew our minds! listen in this weeks episode to try and understand these epic kids and why in the world they would ever want to get rid of their new iPhones.

We have 6 kids, but now have 3 kids and three adults in our family. We learned long ago that each child had their own personality, their own psychosis and way of thinking! We needed to learn how each was an individual and how to parent to that individuality! this is how we cam up with our unfair parenting method.

What does it look like when they come over, does "parenting" stop, etc. It somehow completely changes and theirs expectations and communication that needs to stop and change.

Rachel was still a teenager when we got married 2 days after my 22nd birthday! This rubbed many the wrong way and also empowered others to try and dictate how we dated, arranged our wedding and lived our life! Did we listen to them, yes. Did we do as they dictated, NO! we were young but not stupid and started this journey together 24 years ago and are still going strong!

What kinds of things do you do to keep you and your family busy during the summer break, and not getting on each others nerves?

We talk about our schedules, how we keep our kids engaged and busy during the summer days. How we organize and plan out our days. We also add in fun and family adventures, whether they are small or big, it doesn't matter, we plan them out to make sure we get in good family fun. We also make sure to plan dates with one another for some one on one time.

Did you talk to your parents about hard things? Do you want your kids to feel safe confiding in you with some of the harder things they are going through? We have tested eating at the table together daily, creating a separate safe space to talk about the hard things, going on individual dates with each kids and many more ways to create relationships that will allow our kids to feel comfortable talking to us. we share all of them here hoping that one or even a few may help others! We lived in the UK for 18 months and learned more lessons than we had hoped to! There were some incredible experiences and wonderful people but, there were some terrible experiences and we've listed them here!

In my family we have multiple generations of family members who have served missions for The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or if you prefer the uneducated term... a Mormon mission. Our Church has kept the same name since the 1830's but the catchy phrase Mormons stuck with detractors of the church and still remains.
