Welcome to The Night’s Watch. I’m Jim Powell, featured on MonsterQuest (Season 5, Episode 8), host of The Night’s Watch, investigator, filmmaker, and storyteller exploring the world of Bigfoot, cryptids, UFOs, paranormal encounters, and the unexplained from a grounded Christian perspective. Whether I’m deep in the Appalachian Mountains searching for evidence, interviewing eyewitnesses, sitting down with researchers, or documenting strange events in the field, my goal is simple: follow the evidence wherever it leads.Jim Powell Nauki społeczne
  • What Lurks in the LBL? | From the Vault
    Oct 9 2026

Jim and Jamie revisit a night in Land Between the Lakes that stayed with Jim long after the investigation ended. He describes unexplained lights near camp, strange sounds in the woods, and a frightening moment when he felt disoriented. Jamie shares what was happening with her team as a storm moved in.

What happened out there? Jim and Jamie compare memories, talk through the details, and leave room for the parts they still can’t explain. This is one firsthand account, shared as remembered—not a confirmed identification of what was in the woods.

From the Vault brings older Night’s Watch stories back for another listen. If you’ve had an unusual experience in the LBL, or have a story you’d like Jim and Jamie to discuss, get in touch with the show.

  • From the Vault: Dogman, the Cynocephali & 9th-Century History
    Sep 28 2026

Could the Cynocephali—dog-headed people described in ancient and medieval accounts—connect to today’s Dogman mystery? Jim is joined by Seth Vandebrooke of Project Eleazar to explore accounts tied to Ctesias, Photius, Philostorgius, Ratramnus of Corbie, Saint Augustine, and Charlemagne, including the debate over whether the Cynocephali were human. This remastered From the Vault episode revisits the history, theology, and cryptozoology behind one of the strangest chapters in Dogman lore.

  • We Film The Unseen | Greg Ogles of Relic Films Speaks
    Sep 28 2026

What happens when cameras fail, recordings vanish, and something unexplained enters your camp after dark?

In this episode of The Night’s Watch, Jim Powell sits down with Greg Ogles, creator of Relic Films, for an unfiltered conversation about Bigfoot encounters, unexplained disappearances, equipment failures, strange lights, orbs, possible portals, and the phenomena they have encountered while filming in some of America’s most mysterious wilderness areas.

Greg discusses his documentary work with Relic Films, including The Legend of the Downey Booger, investigations at Land Between the Lakes, and The Vanished—a film examining the disappearances of Dennis Martin in 1969 and Mike Hearon in 2008 in the Great Smoky Mountains.

The conversation then moves beyond filmmaking as Jim and Greg compare their own field experiences. They recount close-range encounters, creatures entering camp after dark, physical reactions in high-activity locations, and repeated equipment failures that appeared to occur precisely when cameras and recorders were directed toward unexplained activity.

Cameras fail. Audio recorders stop. Files become corrupted. Storage media appears to be wiped. Is this coincidence, environmental interference, or evidence that the phenomenon can react to being documented?

Jim and Greg also examine strange lights, orbs, possible portals, defensive encounters, and entities connected to regional folklore—including the Raven Mocker.
