Shmuli & Chana Falk are not your typical couple.

Each entered marriage carrying the weight of childhood trauma and pain, embarking on a journey of self-discovery as they worked to build a new life together.

Just as they stood on the cusp of a positive new chapter, the carpet was pulled from beneath them.

They found themselves in the hands of a couple who promised them the world, at the expense of their very lives.

At what felt like a point of no return, Shmuli grasped onto an imaginary lifeline and began the long climb out of the abyss, pulling both himself and Chana towards hope and healing.

The road that followed was one of emotional and mental recovery, as they slowly rebuilt a life rooted in meaning, purpose, care and giving.

Alongside their own journey through infertility and secondary infertility, with all of the pain, heartbreak and challenges that came with it, Shmuli & Chana discovered within themselves the ability to become a foundation of support for thousands of couples across Israel.

Just 48 hours after I sat down with Rabbi Naftali Schiff, an arson attack was carried out at the former premises of Jewish Futures.

This wasn’t an isolated incident.

Only months earlier, another one of their buildings was defaced with hateful messages.

And yet, what stood out to me then, and even more so now, is the resolve.

The team at Jewish Futures will not be shaken.

The light they bring to tens of thousands each year will not be dimmed.
