Best Not to Try and Rebuild
    Oct 12 2026
This video features a Sunday School lesson led by Bill Ward at the South Gastonia Church of God. The teaching focuses on the biblical account of Israel's return from Babylonian captivity and the rebuilding of the temple as recorded in the book of Ezra. Key themes and takeaways: Restoration: The lesson emphasizes that God is in the business of restoration. Even when God's people faced captivity, his promises remained, and he moved on the heart of King Cyrus to allow them to return home (0:00 - 9:30). Worship before the work: A primary focus was that the people rebuilt the altar before the temple structure. This serves as a reminder to prioritize worship and obedience to God as the foundation for any project or ministry (13:30 - 17:30). Generational unity: The teaching highlights the different reactions of the older generation, who remembered the former temple and wept, and the younger generation, who celebrated the new beginning. Both generations were needed to complete the work (19:30 - 21:30). Overcoming opposition: The group faced significant opposition and delays during the construction process. Ward stresses that a delay is not a denial and that God can turn obstacles into opportunities for his purpose (22:00 - 29:00). Faithful action: The lesson concludes with four main takeaways: God restores, prioritize worship, don't mistake opposition for abandonment, and don't quit during delays (29:30 - 31:45). Bill Ward concludes with a humorous yet practical list of 10 things that are best not to try and rebuild (31:50 - 33:45).

Big announcement on TGP with Producer Stephen Wright!
    Sep 22 2026
ONE GENERATION MENTORING THE NEXT On this episode of The Greater Purpose Podcast, Producer Stephen Wright joins me as we officially introduce TGP Legacy Generation—a new ministry initiative built around a simple but powerful idea: experienced Christian men intentionally investing in the next generation. Legacy Generation is about more than another program. It’s about relationship, discipleship, brotherhood, leadership, and multiplication—men reaching men, leaders developing leaders, and disciples making disciples. Our goal is to connect experienced Christian men with college-age and young adult men, helping them follow Christ, discover their God-given purpose, become godly leaders, and eventually invest in the generation coming behind them. We talk about the vision, why this ministry is needed, how it can grow through mentoring, gatherings, conversations and media—and how YOU can become part of building a legacy of faith. Men reaching men. Leaders developing leaders. Disciples making disciples.
