  • Pastor John Kim on Persecution, Prayer and Why the Church Must Wake Up
    Oct 2 2026

Pastor John Kim joins journalist Caleb Parke for a conversation I’ve wanted to have ever since I heard him preach on intimacy with God and biblical prayer.

John is a Korean-American pastor, husband, father of four, author, and founder of Kairos Global, a missions organization focused on taking the gospel to places where Christ is not yet known. Pasted text

We talk about how John found Christ growing up in a home affected by alcoholism and abuse, why he first experienced Jesus through a peace he couldn’t explain, and how that eventually led him into global missions.

John shares stories from the mission field, including an extraordinary opportunity to bring food and the gospel to a remote island of roughly 5,000 people, underground churches that meet in the middle of the night, and believers who risk prison simply for following Jesus.

But this conversation isn’t only about what’s happening overseas.

John challenges the American church to wake up to the Great Commission, saying, “We have an army. But they’re spectators.”

We also talk about intimacy with God, why ministry should flow from knowing you are loved rather than trying to earn God’s approval, and how Scripture itself gives us a blueprint for prayer.

This one challenged me personally, and I hope it encourages you to ask a simple question:

What would happen if every believer woke up each morning willing to be used by God?

Subscribe to my Facebook page to see the bonus interview where John shares more about his call, missions in China and beyond, and shares a powerful prayer.

  • “I Saw Hell”: Karen Whitsett, a Michigan Democrat, on Faith, Politics & the Experience That Changed Everything
    Mar 26 2026

Michigan State Rep. Karen Whitsett, a Detroit Democrat, joins journalist Caleb Parke for a powerful and personal conversation about faith, politics, and why she says she can no longer align with her party’s platform.

Whitsett opens up about a near-death experience she says changed everything, including a terrifying moment where she believed she was “plummeting into hell.” She explains how that encounter led her to reevaluate her life, her beliefs, and her recent decision to leave public office behind.

She also discusses her choice to take bold stands against her own party on issues like abortion, gender ideology, and family values. From her viral meeting with President Donald Trump to her legislative battles in Lansing, Whitsett shares why she had to put God above politics and walk away from the "Democratic plantation."

    In this episode:

    • The Near-Death Experience: A firsthand account of the vision that changed her life.

    • Faith Over Party: Why she broke with Democrats on abortion and cultural issues.

    • The 313 Action Network: Her new mission to empower fathers and families in Detroit and across the country.

    • A Father's Prophecy: The powerful prophetic words her father spoke to her before he passed.

    • The Future: Why she is finished with politics and focused on the Kingdom of God.
