Jonathan wakes up, surprised to be alive or at least not tied down and ready to be tortured by two vengeful women. He meets his new employer, the Sturgeon, who reveals the true nature of the job he has signed up for, and who also knows more about Jonathan's past than he is comfortable with. Many secrets are revealed as the morning unfolds. Someone has been abducting women in and around Rabbit Warren Cove at an alarming rate, and the Sturgeon believes that the abductions may not only have a link to the darkest moment in Jonathan's past, but that he is uniquely equipped to find these women -- an idea that Jonathan, who long gave up on himself, finds hard to believe.
