It's 1982 in Fervent, a small Black hamlet outside Saugerties, New York. James and Ella White just got out of prison, exonerated for a murder they didn't commit, and they're moving right back into the only home they know. Problem is, their adopted son Morgan didn't survive their time away, and the two people who loved him most, Syl and Fate, are not exactly rolling out the welcome mat.
This month, Tiffani Staten is digging into De'Shawn Charles Winslow's first mystery thriller, The Fervent Whites. We're talking proximity versus belonging, love that shows up as control, and what happens when good intentions get somebody killed.
Spoiler alert: this episode covers plot details throughout, including the ending. If you want to read it clean, go do that first and come back.
