Tell Me Moir, where the chats are candid, the laughs are loud and nothing is off limits. Harriet Moir sits down with brilliant women (or people who identify as women) for no-filter and no-nonsense chats about, well, pretty much anything. Real, relatable and at times raucous, Tell Me Moir dives right into the conversations we want to have but don’t have time for and the ones we don’t want to have but we know we should. Strap in! In the last episode of Tell Me Moir. Season Two, we are looking at how to remain child focussed through it all. From peaceful co-parenting to dumpster fire conflict. When family conflict becomes overwhelming, it can be easy to lose sight of what matters most, the children. Their safety, wellbeing, care arrangements, routines and voice should remain the priority in every decision. However, this is much easier said than done, especially when allegations of abuse are on the table. Together with my fantastic guest, Dr Shannon Westgate, Clinical Psychologist, we explore the child’s voice, effective parenting agreements, safer communication, family therapy, what happens when abuse is suspected and practical ways to put children at the centre of all difficult family decisions. This show was broadcast on OAR 105.4FM Dunedin - oar.org.nz and made thanks to the support of NZ on Air.

When parents separate, what happens to the kids? Who decides where they live? What if there are safety concerns, family harm or a child refuses to go to the other parent? And what happens when parents simply can’t agree? Separation can be difficult but sharing kids is another whole level of heartbreak and challenge altogether. We like to think that everyone involved has the children’s best interests at heart but this isn’t always the case and sometimes disputes around care of the children can be more about control, further chaos and complications than what best serves them. In this episode, we sit down with Barrister Sole and Family Law specialist Bridget Byers to unpack the legals and frequently asked questions around custody, parenting arrangements, mediation, child support, Lawyer for Child, parental alienation and where to go for help and advice if you need it. This show was broadcast on OAR 105.4FM Dunedin - oar.org.nz and made thanks to the support of NZ on Air.

What happens after abuse is recognised, where can you go for help and what happens when the systems put in place to keep us safe, end up letting us down? With my guest Simone Claire from Ōtepoti-Dunedin Whanau Refuge, we discuss in a fair bit of detail the services that are available to support women prior to, during and after leaving abusive relationships. My other guest is a very brave and strong abuse and harassment survivor who shares her story about surviving ongoing stalking, harrassment and abuse from en ex partner. She is also a huge advocate for change, educating other women and improving the system to protect women, keep them safe and not have them financially burdened to do so. This show was broadcast on OAR 105.4FM Dunedin - oar.org.nz and made thanks to the support of NZ on Air.
