The APBT RING Podcast by APBT INFO presents a primary‑source deep dive into Southern Kennels’ GR CH Mayday ROM, tracing the dog’s early temperament, the Puerto Rico trip, and the matches that defined his legacy in APBT history and gamedog history. Based on first‑hand accounts, the episode documents Mayday’s confirmed temperament as a pup, the midnight “fence” incident, emergency recovery and sensory‑deprivation protocols, and pit contests — including the 59‑lb vs 67‑lb catchweight with High Voltage (2xW), the 37‑minute dismantling of Big Red (2xW), and later brutal encounters with heavy hitters such as Pete Jr. (4xW) and Tant’s Cody (1:03). We analyze the physiology, gameness, and tactics behind endurance and finishing power, the risks of extreme weight cuts, the underground veterinary networks that saved Mayday after near‑fatal trauma, and the reputational politics that shaped matchmaking. The episode also covers Mayday’s comeback matches, the catastrophic leg break against Chape Buddha (6xW) and his hour‑long fight on three legs, and how those events cemented his status as GR CH Mayday ROM — a gamedog valued not only for wins but for heritable performance (ROM = Register of Merit)⚠️ DISCLAIMER: Educational and informative. In this episode of The APBT Ring Podcast, we explore one of the most misunderstood practices in the world of pitbull gamedogs: the use of chains to safely and humanely confine American Pit Bull Terriers (APBT). Far from cruelty, chaining — when done correctly — can be the most responsible form of confinement for a pitbull dog with drive, strength, and escape instinct. We break down why chain setups offer security, comfort, and freedom of movement — often outperforming traditional kennel runs in both safety and well-being.
