In this episode of Spread the Love, co-hosts Jon and Ben conclude their multi-part series on spiritual steadfastness, turning their focus to the remaining chapters of the Book of James (Chapters 3 through 5).

Episode Highlights:

• Taming the Tongue & Heavenly Wisdom (James 3): Jon and Ben break down how speech acts as a true litmus test of what lies in the heart, contrasting earthly, self-driven ambition with the pure, peaceable wisdom that comes from above.

• Humility & Spiritual Surrender (James 4): A deep dive into James 4:7–8 on submitting to God, resisting the enemy, and living in daily, sovereign dependence on God's will rather than relying on self-sufficiency.

• Patience, Enduring Suffering & Prayer (James 5): Reflecting on the steadfastness of Job, the hosts examine what it means to patiently endure trials and maintain persistent prayer through tough seasons.

Along with their biblical study, Jon and Ben open the episode with lighter conversation about home life, sourdough pizza experiments, and personal fitness journeys.

Episode Summary:

Hosts Jon and Ben return to the Hub 58:12 studio to continue their multi-part series on steadfastness. Transitioning from the internal trials of James 1 to the practical, daily applications of James 2, they explore what authentic, active faith looks like in modern life.

From confronting cultural favoritism to examining how we treat people across all walks of life, Jon and Ben challenge listeners to move beyond "thoughts and prayers" and into tangible, sacrificial love. They unpack key scriptures on showing no partiality, loving your neighbor as yourself, and why genuine faith naturally produces meaningful action.

In this episode, we discuss:

•

Recapping steadfastness (hypomone) as active, Spirit-led endurance under pressure.
• James 2:1–9 and the call to reject favoritism and status-driven bias.
• Why loving your neighbor isn't just a suggestion, but a command from the Lord.
• Living out impartial love in everyday settings: at work, in our communities, and within the church.
• James 2:15–17 and bridging the gap between passive empathy and costly, actionable faith.

Key Scripture References:

• James 2:1–17

• Matthew 24

In this episode of the Spread the Love Podcast, hosts Ben, Jon and Derick are finally together again to kick off Season 3 episode 14 with a deep, sobering dive into what it truly means to remain steadfast in our faith.

Together, the hosts explore the biblical concept of Hypomonē (active, forward-leaning endurance under heavy weight) and challenge the passive mindset of modern Christianity. Grounded in scriptures from James 1 and Matthew 24, they discuss:

• The difference between true, fruit-bearing faith and superficial belief.

• How justification, sanctification, and glorification work together in the believer's life.

• The parables of Jesus (the ten bridesmaids, the talents, and the sower) as urgent calls to spiritual alertness and active stewardship.

• Rejecting the "American Dream" mindset of comfort, distraction, and retirement in favor of living a life focused on eternity and the Great Commission.
