In this episode, we unpack the complex topics of righteous judgment versus condemnation in Christianity, church hurt, and the struggle to live out discernment with grace in today’s judgmental culture. The episode opens with candid reactions to Spider-Verse and critiques of poor movie theater etiquette, then shifts into powerful discussions about The Chosen’s portrayal of autistic characters like Matthew and the highly anticipated crucifixion season, drawing comparisons to The Passion of the Christ.

From there, the dialogue explores the authenticity of relics such as the Shroud of Turin and the Lance of Longinus, before diving into modern life concerns including fake food ingredients, the decline of real produce, and the pull of fast-food temptations from McDonald’s and Taco Bell. Listeners hear the psychology behind why everyone seems so judgy and how fashion trends serve as distractions that monetize social belonging.

The heart of the episode tackles personal stories of being judged for tattoos, piercings, and dyed hair in church settings, the pain of lifeless and exclusionary church experiences, and the lasting damage of church hurt that leads to distorted views of God. We distinguish between biblical righteous judgment and the modern tendency toward offense, legalism, and policing outsiders, while examining why protests without love fall flat and how the Holy Spirit enhances free will rather than overriding it.

Key topics covered include: righteous judgment in Christianity, church hurt and exclusion, discernment and grace, The Chosen and religious media, Shroud of Turin relics, movie reviews and etiquette, autistic representation in faith media, modern food quality issues, fast food habits, survival mode, fashion trends as distraction, and finding balance between correction and condemnation.

In this episode of Saints & Side Quests, we dive deep into the world of Pentecostal worship, spiritual gifts, and some of the most debated questions in Christian theology. From speaking in tongues and prophecy to the meaning of “the perfect” in 1 Corinthians 13, we explore how these gifts relate to salvation, grace, and free will.

Along the way we go on our usual side quests — bouncing between the nature of God’s omniscience, the unforgivable sin, and what it really means to be saved by grace alone. Think of it as a theological RPG where we accept the main quest but can’t help getting distracted by every interesting side quest we stumble across.

We approach every topic with honesty, curiosity, and deep reverence, never treating sacred things lightly. Whether you’re Pentecostal, Reformed, or just trying to understand these big questions, pull up a chair and quest with us.
