After the brief pleasure of talking about somebody else's problems, Manchester United have kindly reminded us why we started this podcast. A draw against Tottenham, a performance to forget and some increasingly generous definitions of progress have us wondering what Michael Carrick is building, why Bruno Fernandes always starts and whether anyone upstairs knows how to fix it. Adam went to Old Trafford and can at least report that his suede jacket stayed dry. We invite you to share in the other highlights.

Red Army Reaction is a Manchester United podcast hosted by Adam and Nathan, lifelong reds and season ticket holders. We cover Manchester United, Premier League football, match reaction, transfers, club ownership and the nonsense that surrounds the biggest club in the world.

At last, the most knowledgeable and influential voices have their say on the Independent Commissions decision over the charges against Manchester City. The wait is over, and I think you'll be pretty surprised with our stance. Through barely suppressed glee, we discuss how we got here, what is all means and where we go from here. We invite you to come along for the ride.

Four matches, one win, and the only clean piece of work now feels oddly distant. Sabah were eventually put away with the expected difference in quality, Sesko and Mbeumo scored, and the Champions League campaign began without alarm. Everything since has been harder to explain. City went down to ten men at Old Trafford and still dictated the terms, while Brighton overturned a two-goal deficit in a defeat almost unique in its capacity to irritate.

Fulham leaves United stuck with the same uncomfortable question. The best of this side may be good enough, but how often does it appear, and why is the opposition still allowed to decide what kind of match will be played? Carrick has attacking options and moments of real quality. What he does not yet have is a team capable of imposing itself, managing danger and resisting the old urge to replace thought with panic.
