The moon stays in Libra all day.

Libra is ruled by Venus, most commonly known as the planet of ‘love and beauty’. While not wrong entirely wrong, this is a limiting explanation of the planet. Venus is the values you hold, the valuable things in your life. (Beauty) Venus is all the close relationships in your life, romantic and not. (Love)

I’ve always thought Libra to represent the latter. Libra is the sign of partnership. There can’t be one scale, to have balance you need two sides. What are the closest partnerships you have in your life?

Libra is the only sign to be represent by an inanimate object- the scales. Ruled by Venus, Libra is the sign of the “other”. As such, Libra is always thinking about what the other side of the scale is doing and adjusting accordingly to be balance. The friend across from me is shy? Libra says “I’ll be the one to put in the order.” The friend across from me likes to do the talking? Libra knows to sit back and does so happily. Because, at the end of the day, a Libra only wants one thing- balance and harmony. If you have someone in your life with a lot of Libra, watch them as they internally change themselves to bring external stability.

Typically associated with Western teachings, tropical astrology is just one way to read and translate astrology. While western astrology is incredibly popular, it is important to remember (in true Virgo nature) who is telling us our history. Of all the signs, I think Virgo is most misrepresented and misremembered. The symbol of Virgo is the “maiden”. In literature and culturally, we usually think of a maiden as a young, unmarried woman.

But, the original, latin translation had nothing to do with sexual purity and everything to do with feminine independence. So, on this Virgo day, let’s honor the sign that remembers everything by remembering her as she was, not as they want her to be.
