Hey there, music lovers! Let’s talk about a jam that really turned some heads back in the day—“Turned Away” by Chuckii Booker. This was 1989, and it was Chuckii's debut single that shot right to the top of the Billboard R&B chart, locking in the number one spot for a whole week!

You see, Chuckii, he's got that smooth voice that just pulls you right in. It was just something about his voice echoing through music and singing the words “Turned Away From Love”. You can hear him belt out the heartfelt words “Turned Away From Love” and you feel every bit of that emotion. When he sings, it’s like you’re right there with him, feeling the highs and lows of love.

But Chuckii's not just a singer; he's a real musical powerhouse! He plays a bunch of instruments, writes songs, and even produces tracks. He’s from Los Angeles, and he rolled onto the scene in the late '80s, thanks to his godfather, the legendary Barry White, who signed him to his production company back in '84. Talk about starting off on the right foot!

Before going solo, Chuckii was part of a band called Tease, where he rocked the keyboards for three years. So, when he finally dropped “Turned Away,” it was like a big reveal of all his hard work. And while it made waves on the R&B charts, even making it to number forty-two on the Hot 100, it’s that soulful vibe and richness in his voice that we remember the most.

You’re listening to Multi-Tunes. I’m your host, Gail Nobles. Keep those tunes playing, and let’s celebrate the sounds of Chuckii Booker!

With its smooth rhythm and gentle disco vibes, it assures us that though love might have slipped through our fingers this time, there’s always a sparkle of hope waiting just around the corner.

We’re talking about a groove that’s been captivating hearts and moving feet since it’s released in 1985. I’m talking about “Something About You,” that sensational single from the iconic English jazz-funk band Level 42. This track is pure magic.

Released far and wide, not just in the UK, but also hitting the airways of the US, Germany, Italy, Canada, and so many more countries. This country transcends borders. And guess what? It’s the only Level 42 song to smack right into the top 10 here in the states, reaching an impressive number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 for those glorious weeks of May 31 and June 7, 1986. What a triumph.

And the excitement didn’t stop there. The track also shimmed it’s way too number six on the UK singles chart making it their second top 10 hit in their home country.

Something About You didn’t capture a moment. It’s been immortalized in numerous level 42 collections. Whether you’re flipping through “Level Best,” “The Very Best of level 42,” or the “Definitive Collection,” you’ll find this sumptuous track, enticing listeners, old and new.

Now let’s not forget the masterpiece of a music video that gray style screens directed by the talented Stewart Orme - who’s no stranger to creating visual magic with musicians like Phil Collins and Genesis. The video presents the shorter single version that showcases the songs undeniable charm.
