What if the power was never something you had to build, only something you had to accept?In this episode of Soul Sync, I’m joined by Norwegian trance medium Kim Angel Karlskov. Kim has worked as a medium for 22 years, sat for trance for 19 and for physical mediumship for around 10, and he’s spent the last 15 years teaching mediums at his own school in Norway.Kim grew up with spirit at the kitchen table, quite literally. His mum was one of Norway’s best-known clairvoyant mediums, and he made his first proper link at five years old, wandering out of his bedroom to pass on a message to one of her clients. As a baby he played with floating orbs of light in his bassinet, and spoons bent in his mouth so often that friends’ families started handing him plastic cutlery.But Norway has never had a Spiritualist tradition like ours. Kim talks about learning by trial and error, doing much of the work alone, and paying a price for being open about it: bullied at school, threatened with hospital by his teachers, refused onto a bus and spat at in the street after a newspaper wrote about his platform demonstration.We talk about why half the job of a medium is simply listening, why alignment doesn’t have to mean silence, and why in Norway they call it “accepting the power” rather than sitting in it. Kim also takes us into the trance room with his guide Martin, who he says is “way smarter than me”, and into the cabinet, where his sitters watched spirit build what looked like an astronaut’s helmet around his head.At its heart, this is a conversation about not letting anyone else define who you are, or your mediumship.
