Learn to speak English in full sentences, one question at a time.

English Steps to Fluency is an English speaking practice podcast for beginners and elementary learners (A1–A2). Practise listening to clear British English, build useful everyday vocabulary, and learn to answer questions with complete sentences. Whether you are starting from the basics or refreshing what you already know, each lesson gives you a clear opportunity to listen, think and speak aloud.

Knowing a word is a starting point. Using it in a sentence helps you communicate. This podcast brings vocabulary and speaking practice together through simple questions, model answers and repetition.

42 everyday topics. 420 questions and answers. One step at a time.

Step 1: Beginner covers familiar subjects, including the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, family, food, shopping, travel, feelings and comparisons. Each episode focuses on one topic and contains ten questions and answers, helping you practise language you can connect to everyday life.

Listen in order to work through the course, or revisit a topic whenever you need more practice. Pause before the answer, try a complete sentence yourself, and then compare it with the model. Return to the same episode and notice which answers become easier to say.

How to practise: Think • Answer • Learn

Follow this five-step speaking method:

  1. Listen to the question and say it aloud.
  2. Answer aloud in a full sentence.
  3. Listen carefully to the model answer.
  4. Repeat the correct sentence three times.
  5. Make it personal: change the answer to describe your own life.

Speak during the lesson, even when you are practising alone. Give yourself time to answer, repeat useful sentences, and build a regular practice habit.

English practice that fits your routine

Use the podcast for self-study, revision between English lessons, or practice with a teacher or study partner. Each topic offers a starting point for further conversation: answer the questions, change the details, and ask someone else the same questions.

Practise English listening, spoken English, everyday vocabulary and sentence patterns together. Focus on one topic at a time and move forward at a pace that lets you participate.
