The Kansas City Royals finished second in the AL Central with a 69-93 record in 2026, setting the stage for a pivotal offseason. We analyze how the automated ball-strike system impacts Bobby Witt Jr.'s plate discipline and whether he can maintain his elite status against a smaller strike zone. Doug breaks down the bullpen competition between Lucas Erceg and Nate Pearson, weighing raw velocity against experienced reliability for the closer role.

We also tackle the infield logjam involving Nick Loftin, Maikel Garcia, and Michael Massey, discussing how the depth chart shifts with Loftin's breakout potential. The rotation features Seth Lugo, Tony Gonsolin, and Michael Wacha, but questions remain about the back end with Ryan Bergert and Spencer Bivens. Plus, we discuss the outfield mix of Jac Caglianone, Isaac Collins, and Kyle Isbel.

Finally, we answer fan questions about the $50 million offseason budget, prioritizing a Witt Jr. extension over free agent signings. Our prediction for 2027 stands at 82-85 wins, driven by bullpen stabilization and defensive improvements. Listen for our lightning round takes on the most underrated player and the biggest surprise of the season.
