We explore the spiritual and emotional patterns that so often lie beneath this condition, including how the body can gather its softness at the great gates of life, the thresholds of womanhood, of carrying a child, of change in later years, as a quiet form of shelter. We look at the story many have been handed, that this condition is somehow their doing, and why that story was never theirs to carry. We explore the part of the self that learned to stay hidden, the way feeling that had nowhere to move may have gathered and waited in the tissues, and how the legs, which carry and ground us in the language of the soul, may be asking at last to be touched with the care they have long deserved.
