What if you stopped waiting for January 1st to change your life?

In this kickoff episode of The Great Lock-In, Kala Simmons is challenging you to stop treating the new year, a Monday, a perfect plan, more confidence, or someone else's approval as the starting line for the life you want.

Because personal growth doesn't require a new year. You can start changing your life right now.

After realizing how much of her own life she had been putting on hold while waiting to be chosen, recognized, and validated, Kala made a decision: stop waiting and start choosing herself.

Now, as she prepares to enter her 40s, she's using the final 12 weeks of the year to get serious about the woman she's becoming. That means setting boundaries, reclaiming her time, prioritizing her physical health, embracing imperfect progress, building her personal brand, and becoming more intentional about the life she actually wants.

The Great Lock-In isn't about becoming a completely different person before January.

It's about learning to trust yourself enough to start acting like the person you already know you're capable of becoming.

In this episode, Kala talks about:

  • Why you don't need to wait until January to change your life
  • The danger of waiting for permission, motivation, or external validation
  • What getting passed over for a promotion taught her about waiting to be chosen
  • Why your next level may not require another degree, certification, title, or accomplishment
  • What it means to choose yourself and start moving like the woman you already are
  • How Pilates became an unexpected lesson in discipline, consistency, and being willing to be a beginner
  • Why personal growth requires messy, imperfect progress
  • Setting boundaries and reclaiming your time, energy, and attention
  • Becoming the brand instead of simply talking about the brand
  • Why taking yourself seriously can feel uncomfortable
  • How to stop waiting for the "perfect time" and start taking action
  • The importance of self-trust when creating meaningful change
  • How to use the final 12 weeks of the year to create momentum before the new year

Your Great Lock-In Question

What have you been waiting for?

What have you been waiting for permission to do?

What have you been waiting for someone else to validate?

What are you telling yourself you'll start once you have more time, more confidence, more money, a better body, a better job, more followers, or a better plan?

And most importantly:

What decision could you make this week that would make you say, "I'm serious about this"?

You don't need to become a new person before January.

You need to start trusting the person you already are.

The Great Lock-In

For the next 12 weeks, Kala is documenting what happens when she stops waiting and starts intentionally choosing herself, her health, her boundaries, her business, her voice, and the life she wants to build.

No perfection.

No waiting for Monday.

No waiting for January.

Just intentional action, self-trust, and messy imperfect progress.

Welcome to The Great Lock-In.
