  • How Do We Manage Being Digitally Savvy?
    Aug 3 2026
Navigating the online world for ourselves is hard enough, but trying to keep it safe for our children feels near impossible. We’ve talked a lot on the show lately about the dangers of posting pictures of our families, how children as young as three are using social media, and the sort of content that is being fed to our kids online. One thing that keeps coming up over and over is: how do we keep it under control? ‘Smartphone Nation: Why We’re All Addicted to Screens and What Your Family Can Do About It’ is a new book by Dr Kaitlyn Regehr, associate professor at UCL. It’s a toolkit for families to become more savvy about the ways that they use online technology. Dr Regehr is a world-leading expert on the cultural impacts of social media and is working on the guidelines accompanying the UK Government’s new social media ban for under 16s. In this episode Dr Kaitlyn Regehr joins Stephanie in the studio to give us tips on activities we can do with our children to become more intentional about algorithms, and how we can navigate the online world with our kids in a way that feels less overwhelming.
