In this eye opening episode, we sit down with Jovany, the founder of Friday Stairs, for a conversation about identity, faith, resilience, and what it really takes to rebuild your life from the ground up. Antonio grew up in rural Puerto Rico, where Spanish was his first language, his first gift was a machete, and life looked completely different from the world he would later step into. When he moved to America at 12 years old, his main goal was simple: learn English. But that goal quickly became a battle to fit in, find confidence, and prove he was more than the stereotype people expected him to be. Sports became his way into the language, the culture, and eventually football, where he went from no offers to walking on at the University at Buffalo, earning a scholarship, becoming a captain, surviving seven knee surgeries, and chasing the NFL. But this conversation goes far beyond football. Antonio opens up about growing up with little but feeling rich, the difference between poverty in Puerto Rico and poverty in America, the injury that forced him to stop playing victim, the breath work experience that unlocked a childhood memory he had carried for years, and how losing football helped him find God, purpose, and a bigger mission. We talk about giving when he had $8 in his bank account, being $30K in debt and still choosing to serve, building Sport of Life to help athletes understand they are bigger than their sport, and how one stair workout in Tampa turned into Friday Stairs, a community hundreds of people now fight to be part of. This is not just a story about learning English, football, fitness, or building a movement. It is a story about becoming the person you were supposed to become, even when the first version of your dream falls apart.INSTAGRAMhttps://www.instagram.com/antoniovaglicajrhttps://www.instagram.com/momentumshiftpodhttps://www.instagram.com/iamjovanyruiz/CHAPTERS0:00 Intro and the energy of Friday Stairs3:18 Growing up rural in Puerto Rico6:52 Using sports to learn English10:41 Redefining success after learning English14:00 The first knee injury and victim mindset17:01 Nine people in a two-bedroom home20:21 The childhood memory breathwork unlocked23:24 Rewiring old beliefs through action26:29 Faith, love, and finding God29:48 Building Sport of Life for athletes33:04 Giving while broke, in debt, and alone36:46 Going all in after football ended40:34 How Friday Stairs really started44:44 When the city tried to shut it down48:40 Why real leaders give first#PodcastInterview #Entrepreneurship #FridayStairs #ImmigrantStory #PuertoRico #LearnEnglish #UnderdogStory #FaithAndPurpose #GodsPlan #FootballJourney #Resilience #PersonalDevelopment #CommunityBuilding #Tampa #FounderStory
