Gary Talks Physical Media: Cleopatra Record's Twiggy: The Woman Behind The Icon
    Oct 21 2026
🌼✨ FROM SWINGING LONDON TO GLOBAL SUPERSTARDOM! THE INCREDIBLE STORY OF TWIGGY! In today's episode of Gary Talks Physical Media, Gary takes a trip back to the swinging 1960s with Cleopatra Records' DVD release of TWIGGY: THE WOMAN BEHIND THE ICON, a fascinating documentary exploring the life, career, and enduring cultural influence of one of the most recognizable faces in fashion history! With her distinctive pixie haircut, enormous eyes, and unmistakable style, Twiggy became an international sensation almost overnight, helping redefine beauty, fashion, and popular culture during one of the most revolutionary decades of the 20th century. 🎬 THE WOMAN BEHIND THE ICON Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sadie Frost, Twiggy examines the extraordinary life of Lesley Lawson, the working-class London teenager who became the face of the 1960s. Discovered at just 16 years old, Twiggy quickly became one of the world's first true supermodels, appearing on magazine covers, inspiring fashion designers, and becoming a symbol of London's youth-driven cultural revolution. Her androgynous look and unconventional beauty challenged traditional standards and helped usher in an entirely new era of fashion. But Twiggy's remarkable career didn't end when the 1960s did. She successfully transitioned into acting, singing, and television, earning two Golden Globe Awards for her performance in Ken Russell's 1971 musical The Boy Friend. Over the decades, she continued reinventing herself, proving that her talents extended far beyond the modeling world. Featuring personal reflections, archival material, and interviews with friends and collaborators, Twiggy: The Woman Behind the Icon explores the woman behind the public image and the extraordinary career that followed her initial burst of fame. The documentary explores her journey through fame, personal challenges, artistic reinvention, and the pressures of becoming an international celebrity at such a young age. 📀 CLEOPATRA RECORDS BRINGS TWIGGY TO DVD! In today's episode, Gary takes a closer look at both the documentary and Cleopatra Records' physical media release. Here's what we're discussing: 🌼 Twiggy's extraordinary career: From teenage model to international fashion icon. 🎬 Sadie Frost's documentary: The film's approach to telling Twiggy's personal and professional story. 🎞️ Archival material: The photographs, interviews, and historical footage that bring her story to life. 📀 DVD presentation: Picture quality, audio, and the overall viewing experience. 📦 Packaging and artwork: A closer look at Cleopatra Records' colorful physical media edition. 🎞️ PRESERVING CULTURAL HISTORY THROUGH PHYSICAL MEDIA One of the things I love about physical media is that it allows us to preserve more than just movies. Documentaries about music, fashion, photography, and cultural history are equally important, particularly when they introduce new generations to influential figures whose contributions helped shape the world we live in today. And Twiggy: The Woman Behind the Icon offers an opportunity to revisit one of the most fascinating personalities to emerge from the 1960s. But does the documentary successfully capture the woman behind the famous photographs? What does it reveal about Twiggy's life beyond the runway? And is Cleopatra Records' DVD release worth picking up? Watch Gary's complete review of TWIGGY: THE WOMAN BEHIND THE ICON on GARY TALKS PHYSICAL MEDIA and find out! 🌼✨ SHE DEFINED A GENERATION. • Gary Talks Physical Media: Toy Robot's Watchers Blu Ray

Gary Talks Physical Media: Toy Robot's Watchers Blu Ray
    Oct 20 2026
🐺💀 SOMETHING TERRIFYING IS WATCHING! COREY HAIM'S WATCHERS RETURNS ON BLU-RAY! In today's episode of Gary Talks Physical Media, Gary revisits a forgotten slice of 1980s science-fiction horror with Toy Robot's new Blu-ray release of WATCHERS (1988), starring Corey Haim, Michael Ironside, and Barbara Williams! Based on the bestselling novel by legendary suspense author Dean Koontz, Watchers combines genetic experimentation, a highly intelligent golden retriever, a terrifying genetically engineered creature, and plenty of late-1980s monster movie madness! Directed by Jon Hess, the film follows teenager Travis Cornell (Corey Haim), whose life changes when he encounters an unusually intelligent golden retriever that has escaped from a secret government research facility. But the dog isn't the only thing that escapes! Also on the loose is a deadly experimental creature known as the Outsider, a monstrous creation genetically linked to the dog and determined to hunt it down. As Travis develops a bond with his new canine companion, he finds himself caught between a relentless monster and a ruthless government operative played by Michael Ironside. What follows is a combination of creature-feature horror, science-fiction suspense, and the kind of outrageous practical-effects entertainment that defined the 1980s! 📀 TOY ROBOT BRINGS WATCHERS BACK TO BLU-RAY! In today's episode, Gary takes a closer look at the movie and Toy Robot's new Blu-ray edition, exploring whether this cult favorite deserves another look. Here's what we're discussing: 🐺 The movie: Does Watchers still deliver the thrills nearly four decades later? 🎬 Corey Haim: Revisiting one of the young actor's memorable genre roles from the late 1980s. 😈 Michael Ironside: The veteran character actor brings his trademark intensity to the film. 🐕 The intelligent golden retriever: One of the more unusual canine heroes in 1980s horror cinema. 💀 The Outsider: The creature design, practical monster effects, and horror sequences. 📖 Dean Koontz's novel: How does the movie compare with the bestselling book that inspired it? 📀 Blu-ray picture quality: How does Watchers look in high definition? 🔊 Audio presentation: How well do the dialogue, music, and creature effects hold up? 🎥 Special features: What supplemental material accompanies Toy Robot's release? 📦 Artwork and packaging: How does this edition look on the collector's shelf? 🎞️ KEEPING THE VHS ERA ALIVE! One of the things I love about boutique physical media labels is their willingness to revisit movies that were staples of the video-store era but haven't always received the attention given to bigger Hollywood classics. Watchers is exactly that kind of movie. It's a reminder of a time when Corey Haim was a major teen star, Dean Koontz adaptations were finding their way to the screen, and practical monster effects were a major selling point for genre audiences. But does Watchers still hold up today? How does the film compare with Dean Koontz's original novel? And has Toy Robot delivered a Blu-ray release worth picking up? Watch Gary's complete review of WATCHERS (1988) on GARY TALKS PHYSICAL MEDIA and find out! 🐺💀 IT STARTED AS A SECRET EXPERIMENT. IT ENDED AS A NEW BREED OF TERROR! 👇 Did you see WATCHERS during the VHS era? And what's your favorite Corey Haim movie or Dean Koontz adaptation? Let me know in the comments! 📀 ABOUT GARY TALKS PHYSICAL MEDIA Gary Talks Physical Media explores the latest 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, Limited Edition, and Collector's Edition releases, along with retro reviews, cult classics, international cinema, horror, science fiction, and overlooked catalog titles. Gary Talks Physical Media: National Lampoon's Vacation 4K Steelbook
    Oct 16 2026
🚗💨 ARE WE THERE YET? THE GRISWOLDS HIT THE ROAD IN 4K! 🎢 In today's episode of Gary Talks Physical Media, Gary takes a nostalgic road trip back to one of the funniest comedies of the 1980s with a retro review of NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION (1983) and its Warner Bros. 4K Ultra HD SteelBook release! Directed by Harold Ramis, written by John Hughes, and starring Chevy Chase, National Lampoon's Vacation introduced audiences to the Griswold family and launched one of the most beloved comedy franchises in movie history. Chevy Chase stars as Clark Griswold, an enthusiastic family man determined to give his wife Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) and their children Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall) and Audrey (Dana Barron) the ultimate summer vacation. The destination? Walley World, the greatest family amusement park in America! Unfortunately, getting there proves to be anything but relaxing. From disastrous roadside stops and questionable accommodations to an unforgettable encounter with Aunt Edna (Imogene Coca), the Griswolds' cross-country adventure becomes an increasingly ridiculous nightmare. And that's before they even reach the amusement park! Along the way, the family encounters a memorable collection of characters, including Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie, John Candy as a Walley World security guard, and Christie Brinkley as the mysterious woman in the red Ferrari. More than 40 years after its original release, National Lampoon's Vacation remains a comedy classic, packed with quotable dialogue, unforgettable characters, and some of the most outrageous family vacation disasters ever committed to film. 📀 NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION ON 4K ULTRA HD STEELBOOK! In this episode, Gary revisits the movie and examines Warner Bros.' collectible 4K Ultra HD SteelBook edition. Here's what we're discussing: 🚗 The movie: Does National Lampoon's Vacation still deliver the laughs more than four decades later? 🌟 The supporting cast: Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid, Anthony Michael Hall, Dana Barron, John Candy, Christie Brinkley, and more. 📀 4K picture quality: How does the film look in Ultra HD, and does the presentation improve upon previous home video releases? 🌈 Color, detail, and HDR: How well does the 4K presentation capture the film's distinctive early-1980s look? 🔊 Audio quality: How does the soundtrack, including Lindsey Buckingham's memorable "Holiday Road," hold up? 🎥 Special features: What does the release offer for longtime fans? 📦 SteelBook artwork and packaging: Is this collectible edition worth tracking down? Few comedies have captured the frustrations and absurdities of family vacations quite like this one. Whether it's Clark's increasingly desperate attempts to keep everyone happy or the endless disasters that threaten to derail the trip, National Lampoon's Vacation remains remarkably relatable. And for physical media collectors, revisiting a classic comedy in 4K is another opportunity to appreciate a film that has entertained generations. But does National Lampoon's Vacation still hold up today? How does the 4K presentation compare with previous releases? And is this SteelBook worth adding to your collection? Watch Gary's complete retro review of NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION on 4K Ultra HD SteelBook and find out! 🚗🎢 THE MOOSE OUT FRONT SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU! 👇 What's your favorite Griswold movie?
