Preseason is over. The games are about to start counting, and the New Orleans Pelicans are running out of time to figure out exactly who they are.

In Episode 68 of Flock, we put preseason into perspective and look at potential green shoots. We've heard the talk, seen the new coaching staff at work and had a first look at how this roster might fit together. Now comes the part that matters.

We'll look at what we've learned about Jamahl Mosley's approach, what we're expecting from Zion Williamson and Trey Murphy III, and whether Jeremiah Fears is ready to take a significant leap in his second NBA season. After a promising rookie year, can Fears take on more responsibility, improve his decision-making and become an even bigger part of the Pelicans' future?

There are still questions around this team's identity, its rotations and how consistently it can execute at both ends of the floor. But preseason was never going to provide all the answers. The regular season will.

The expectations are set. The excuses get harder to make. It's time to find out what these Pelicans are actually capable of.

Preseason is done. Now it begins.

Flock — the New Orleans Pelicans podcast from Australia.

The Pelicans are finally playing basketball again.

New Orleans opened preseason with a 116–110 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, giving us our first proper look at Jamahl Mosley’s team in game action.

In Episode 67 of Flock, we break down what we saw — and, more importantly, what actually matters.

🏀 The Starters: How did Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, Dejounte Murray, Herb Jones and Yves Missi look together? Is this starting five beginning to make sense?

🔧 What Needs To Improve: It was a win, but there were still plenty of things that need cleaning up before the regular season. We look at the areas that stood out.

🕵️ The Dark Horses: Which players gave us something we weren't necessarily expecting? Who could force their way into the rotation as preseason continues?

📈 Flock Market: Bryce McGowens is going UP, while the starting lineup takes a hit after Game One.

It's only preseason, but after four days of training camp, this is our first chance to actually judge the Pelicans on a basketball court.
